National

The wide media coverage provided by Al Ghad Newspaper provides the Social Entrepreneur of the Year with visibility and legitimacy for the work his/she spearheads. This coverage increases the likelihood of support for the initiative.

Regional

As the Social Entrepreneur of the Year from a given country, the winner participates in a Regional Meeting of the World Economic Forum taking place in the geographical region where the social entrepreneur focuses the organization’s activities. The Schwab Foundation covers the costs of the registration fee, transportation, food and lodging.

These regional meetings take place in Africa, China, Europe, Latin America, Middle East, South East Asia, and North America. They bring together key leaders from business, politics and civil society to advance their respective economic and social agendas. Social entrepreneurs working in these regions make important contributions to the outcome-centered discussions and task forces on topics such as health, education and the digital divide. They also benefit from linkages with leaders in countries where they are working with whom they would not otherwise have access.

Global

The winner is invited to the Annual Summit for Outstanding Social Entrepreneurs of the Schwab Foundation in January 2008. Transportation, food and lodging will be covered by the Foundation.

The gathering is organized by the Schwab Foundation and brings together the winners of the Social Entrepreneur of the Year competition around the world. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for the selected social entrepreneurs to come together to share knowledge, experience, exchange best practice and benefit from cutting-edge knowledge in social enterprise planning, management, as well as communications and other aspects that they identify as critical to their enhanced performance.
