Step 1 - First Round Candidates: Those interested in being considered as candidates complete the application form.
Information gathered in the selection process will remain confidential. The deadline for receiving these forms is September 30, 2007.
Step 2 - Semi-Finalists Selected: the Schwab Foundation and local experts review the information forms submitted by First Round Candidates. Those who qualify are invited to be semi-finalists.
Semi-finalists are asked to provide additional information in addition to three sets of documents:

a copy of your CV or resume,

the most recent evaluation report on your organization, preferably conducted by a recognized third party agency,

an income statement and balance sheet for the last 2-3 years, preferably audited by an external auditor
Step 3 - Finalists Selected: The documentation submitted by the semi-finalists is reviewed by the Schwab Foundation and local experts. Further details on candidates may be provided through site visits to the candidate’s organization and/or interviews with the candidate and key informants. This due diligence step enables the selection of the finalists.
Step 4 – Announcing the Winner: A jury comprised of selected representatives of different sectors reviews all information collected on the finalists. Members of the jury will have no vested interest in the outcome of the selection. For example, the jury will not include individuals involved in other organizations that support social entrepreneurs, or individuals who are members of boards or advisory groups for social entrepreneurs. One seat on the jury is reserved for a representative of the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship.
