Amar Ali

Amar joined DSM in the newly created role of President, Africa Region in January 2021. He will be responsible for developing new businesses and expanding our existing business in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Previously he was CEO of Africa Improved Foods for 5 years, taking the company from startup to $50m+ revenue while impacting the lives of more than 1.5m WFP beneficiaries per year, establishing the largest anti-stunting program in the region with the Govt of Rwanda, and launching commercial products that now lead the market in Rwanda and rapidly growing in Kenya, all by developing local agricultural value chains. He was awarded Schwab Foundation Social Intrapreneur of the year in 2019.

He also spent 5 years as head of Business Development at DAL Group, Sudan, the largest food and ag company in the region, as well as a number of other senior corporate and startup roles earlier in his career including Global VP Marketing and Pricing for Travelport, a $2bn travel technology company.

He holds a 1st Class honours Bachelors in Psychology and Sociology with Chinese History from the University of Leeds and an MBA from INSEAD in France and Singapore.
