Maria Cavalcanti
Maria Cavalcanti is President and Chief Executive Officer of Pro Mujer. She joined the company in 2016 and brings over 25 years of professional experience advancing women and working with a wide range of business and non-profit organizations across Latin America, the United States, Western Europe, and India. She leads the organizations sustainable growth by developing an extended, large-scale service and products platform to empower women throughout the region. Before joining Pro Mujer, Maria Co-Founded and became managing partner of FIRST Impact Investing, a private equity fund in Brazil. Prior to FIRST, she served as Chief Strategy Officer for Fundación Avina, where she spearheaded strategy and operational initiatives across the organization, spanning 15 countries. Earlier in her career Maria worked at Dell Inc. where she was closely involved in the company's expansion into Latin America. Now, Maria oversees all of Pro Mujer’s operations in Latin America.

Pro Mujer
Founded in 1990 in Bolivia, Pro Mujer is a leading mission-driven social enterprise that empowers women in Latin America through a suite of financial, health and skill-building services, helping them reach their full potential. Over the past 28 years, Pro Mujer has disbursed more than $3 billion in small loans, provided over 8 million health interventions, and impacted more than 2 million women across Argentina, Bolivia, Mexico, Nicaragua and Peru.
In 2017, Pro Mujer turned to a new organizational strategy with a mandate to build a large-scale and sustainable platform that provides relevant and transformative resources and tools to women throughout their life cycle. Pro Mujer has begun to expand its services by entering new areas, including digital literacy, gender-based violence prevention, and workforce development. By leveraging alliances and technology, Pro Mujer is building a one-stop shop for women's empowerment.
